Welcome to Boylestone!
Boylestone is a small, beautiful village in the Derbyshire Dales, surrounded by stunning countryside. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 318. With fewer than 100 houses, one might be forgiven for thinking that there is not much happening, but Boylestone is in fact a thriving, busy and social place to live. The Village Hall, which before 1967 was the Village School, hosts regular classes and clubs and numerous social events throughout the year. These include 'Boylestone Big Breakfast' events which are famous locally and raise funds for the St. John the Baptist village church, and also the Annual Village Show which has been running for decades. There are also art classes, a choir, a book club, a craft club, Thursday Lunch Club and bingo sessions. The charity, Boylestone Rural Social Group, which is supported by The Farming Life Centre, holds its regular meetings in the Village Hall and Boylestone Ladies Group are the driving force behind so many social and fund-raising events including Christmas Tree Festivals, Scarecrow Festivals and so much more. To add to all that goes on, the Parochial Church Council even organises village duck races!
There are a handful of listed buildings in the parish including what was previously the pub, The Rose and Crown, which was a favourite of (the then Prince but now) King Charles III. This is now the popular and highly acclaimed Lighthouse Restaurant.
Boylestone, whilst still a mainly agricultural community with a small number of traditional family run farms, is perfectly placed for commuting to Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, Derby and further afield with easy access to the A50 and A515.
